Title I Parent Involvement

The Wilkes County School System will conduct an on-site review and revision of the FY 18 Parent Involvement Plan on Monday, July 31, from 2:00 until 5:00 at the Wilkes County Board of Education.  All parents and interested community members are invited to come by and review and give input into the Comprehensive Needs Assessment.

Milestones Testing GADOE logo

GA DOE announces a refreshed Experience Online Testing Georgia website is now available with a demonstration test for each of three grade bands – grades 3-5, grades 6-8, and high school – with sample items from each content area.  While the 3-5 and 6-8 grade bands will contain Science and Social Studies items, please be reminded that these two content areas will be assessed in grades 5 and 8 only.  The primary purpose of this website is to provide exposure to the online platform that students will utilize when taking the Georgia Milestones tests.

Holiday Band Concert


Power Up for 30

On Friday, September 30th, WWES took part in Georgia's Power Up for 30 day. Power Up for 30 is part of Gov. Nathan Deal’s statewide initiative to combat childhood obesity, Power Up for 30 is a voluntary program that encourages every elementary school in Georgia to include an additional 30 minutes of physical activity each day.

Each month teachers choose a student from their homeroom as a student of the month for being good citizens.  

As a reward, the students receive a certificate and get to help during the Tiger Buck Store.

Back to School Tailgate 21st Century

21st Century Achievers Program will be having its annual "Back to School" tailgate on Friday, August 26th from 5-7 at Tiger Stadium: free food, free school supplies, and Athens Techs classes information!

Special Gift

The students of WWES received a special treat over Christmas Break.  Former University of Georgia football player and children's author, Malcolm Mitchell chose our school out of 200 schools as the winner of an autographed copy of his book "The Magician's Hat."  Our school was drawn out of a hat on the 11th day of the 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Celebration

Tiger Buck Store

WWES 4th and 5th grade students enjoyed their first Tiger Buck store.  Students receive Tiger Bucks for following our PBIS rules and being respectful, prepared, and responsible.

Georgia announces 2015 Summer Reading Challenge and free reading resources GADOE

When students dont read during the summer months, they lose educational ground a phenomenon that lowers achievement potential and widens the achievement gap. Research shows that students can lose up to three months of reading ability over the summer. 
All students are challenged to read every day this summer, for a minimum of 15 to 30 minutes, and the GaDOE and partners are offering a variety of free resources to make that easier:
