In response to the possible spread of Coronavirus, (COVID-19), Wilkes County Schools is cancelling all sporting events, field trips, and any other non-essential events beginning Friday, March 13, through the end of the month. At that time, the district will reevaluate the situation and respond accordingly. We are also eliminating visitors during the school day. Parents, guardians, and others are asked to come to the school only if you need to pick-up or drop off your student. No visitors will be allowed to visit within the school or have lunch, etc. Those with symptoms are being asked to refrain from coming to the school.
Please remember and remind students to wash hands with soap and water for 2 minutes, cover coughs and sneezes, and refrain from coming to school if sick. Remain fever-free for 24 hours without medication prior to returning to school or work.
Because this is an evolving health concern, please be aware that further action, which may include the cancellation of school, is a possibility.
